I just deleted the first post here, which was an introductory post created by WordPress. Now I am ready to post instructions for you to create your own blog.
Go to: http://wordpress.com
Click on “Sign Up Now!”
Complete form
- Username: all lowercase
- Password: best to choose a combination of letters and numbers
- Email address: this is where you will get all blog communications
- Read terms of service and check box
- Choose Gimme a blog
- Choose your domain name
This cannot be changed; use all lowercase; whatever you choose will become part of your url; for example, I chose hrintro – so my url (address of my blog) is http://hrintro.wordpress.com - Blog title: I chose Introhrms’s Weblog. Then I changed it later by going to “Settings” above. Now it is called Introduction to Blogging.
- Language: English
- Privacy – I uncheck
- Check your email to confirm (within 2 days); click link to activate account
- You may update profile while you wait
- Save profile
- After you have activated account, click on “view your site” or “login”
- If you clicked on “view your site,” then click “log in” under “meta”
- On your page:
Write = write a new post
Manage = edit posts
Design = the fun part: choose a theme; don’t forget to click “activate” once you have chosen the theme that you like
Comments = delete the first one if you don’t want it there – it was just a sample
Upgrade = I haven’t done anything with this; it costs money
Click on “Save” in the right hand menu above to save your post.
“Visit Site” at any point to see what your blog looks like.
